Aden, NewsYemen:

The Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - banned holding parties for all occasions in Sana'a, which is under its control, while requiring a prior permit.

This came according to an official circular document, issued by the director of the Culture Office in the Capital Municipality, who was appointed by the Houthis, Abdullah Al-Maafa.

The circular prohibited directors and owners of wedding halls in Sana'a from accepting "any artistic groups, owners of DJ shops, party presenters and teams organizing celebrations, festivals and bazaars, except with a permit from the militia."

The Houthi militia waved punitive measures against those who violate what was stated in the circular.

Usually, wedding events are held in these halls, and condolences are received for the deaths, due to the spaciousness of the halls to receive well-wishers / mourners, which means - according to the circular - the owners of the occasions pay illegal levies, in exchange for obtaining a permit.

This measure comes within the framework of the Houthi militia's practices to restrict public life for citizens in the governorates under its control in northern Yemen.
