Aden, NewsYemen:

The Ministry of Transport in the Yemeni internationally recognized government revealed the allegations of Brotherhood activists and leaders of the terrorist Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, regarding the Qishn mining port project, which was approved by the government in its meeting held on December 31, 2022.

The government had approved the contract for the construction of the port of Qishn in Al-Mahra Governorate, which is dedicated to mining activity, after reviewing it by the ministerial committee in charge of that and absorbing the observations submitted on it.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Transport, and published by the government-run Saba Agency, said that the approval of the contract came after the completion of all legal and technical procedures and review of the draft contract by the concerned competent authorities, based on Sea Ports Law No. (23) of 2013 AD regulating B.O.T contracts in force in all countries of the world.  Which gives the port authority the right to contract with the private sector (B.O.T) system, and according to the nature of the project, to establish and operate ports for a specified period, and then transfer their ownership to the competent port authority.

The statement stressed that the executing company is Yemeni, specialized in energy and mining, and has licenses from all concerned authorities and approval of the laws regulating investment in the Republic of Yemen, denying the allegations that spoke of an Emirati company taking over the responsibility of establishing and operating the port that will be designated for mining.

The ministry also confirmed that spreading such rumors aims to disrupt development projects in Al-Mahra Governorate and the liberated governorates to serve a suspicious agenda, impede investment projects and alienate investors, calling on various media outlets, including satellite channels, newspapers, news sites and social media activists to investigate accuracy and credibility and take information from its correct sources and to be drawn into malicious rumours.
