Seiyun, newsyemen, exclusive:

The districts of Wadi Hadramout, eastern Yemen, are living in a state of chaos and deliberate security chaos, under the military control of the First Region forces loyal to the Muslim Brotherhood.

During the past year 2022, the directorates of Wadi and Hadramout desert recorded about 132 assassinations, affecting security leaders, soldiers, local personalities and civilians, according to security sources.

The number of assassination cases recorded during the last five years has reached more than (500) cases of liquidation that have been restricted against unknown persons, despite the spread of points and brigades belonging to the first military region in Seiyun, distributed from the Tarim district to Al Abr in the desert of Hadramout, but the security chaos that it suffers from  Cities escalated in an unusual way, with the spread of acts of theft, severance, and terrorism.

 Terrorism Title

The Hadramout Valley became a site of security chaos, killings, assassinations, and the return of terrorist activity, which necessitated a popular and tribal movement to demand the departure of the first military zone and the empowerment of the Hadrami elite forces, similar to their experience in the Hadramout coast since its liberation from al-Qaeda, with the support of the coalition and the efforts of the UAE.

The escalation of popular demands for the departure of the first military forces confused the authority of the Brotherhood in the city of Seiyun, especially after the change of pillars of the war of the first military zone, Yahya Abu Awja, by a presidential decision, which led to confusion in the decisions within the military zone.

The sources explained to "Newsyemen" that in the past period, new training camps affiliated with the First Military were formed, and checkpoints were established in various regions of the valley, while its patrols intensified their spread and provocations to citizens, in addition to calling for recruitment outside the scope of the military and security institutions in Hadramout.

Suspicious Movements

The 101st Air Police Brigade, assigned to protect Seiyun International Airport of the 1st Military Region, established in early December 2022 a battalion near the water fields in the area of the farthest city of Seiyun to the south, with a strength of more than 700 soldiers.  Without clearly defined targets, however, those forces demonstrated their aims and objectives by stationing in the area near the oil fields (Petromusila), in which the protection forces of companies affiliated with the Hadrami Elite Forces of the Second Military Region are stationed on the coast of Hadramout, and are also adjacent to the valley’s borders with the plateau and the coast.

The geographical borders that were drawn between the first and second military regions were on that road, which made the first military region approach it for fear that the Hadrami elite forces would enter Wadi Hadramout to liberate it from the Brotherhood forces, according to what Muhammad al-Hamid told NewsYemen.

Al-Hamid pointed out that a military barracks established near the water fields is a violation of human rights laws and the Geneva Call law in case of war, stressing the need to hold accountable those responsible for the establishment of Jathma camp for tampering with the water system inside the city of Seiyun, which may deprive thousands of the basic lifeline.

On the eighth of last January, an explosive device exploded in its planter in front of the same camp, killing the farmer on the spot, and parts of his body were scattered at the site where the device was placed, without any injury to the passing citizens or soldiers from the impact of the explosion.

In late January, the leadership of Jathma camp lifted its position in the place and withdrew its soldiers, following the directives of the governor of Hadramout, Mabkhout bin Madi, and the representative of the Hadramout Valley, following the campaigns of continuous popular pressure in the Hadramout Valley.

Salvation is a matter of time

The head of the Auxiliary Executive Authority of the Southern Transitional Council for the affairs of the districts of Hadramout Valley and Desert, Muhammad al-Zubaidi, confirmed that the popular will made the first military zone to end and withdraw the entire newly created camp below a dead end and withdraw all its elements from the place, and indicated that "soon the entire region will be defeated from the valley and the desert, which is a matter  of Just time."

He said that the popular will will finish what it started of sacrifices and a great struggle in order to restore the Hadrami land and declare the state of the south independent with full sovereignty, and that the last battle for the establishment of the desired state is the battle of Wadi Hadramout and for the great dream that every southerner wishes to come true.

Al-Zubaidi indicated that the Hadrami elite forces are on the outskirts of Seiyun, and they are watching the scene and waiting for orders to move and expel terrorism from the valley.

Observers believe that the deteriorating security situation in the Hadramout Valley has become a key to the entry of Hadrami forces from the people of the province in order to extend control, end the state of chaos, take charge of security and stability, and end the escalating assassinations under the auspices of the First Military Region.

Dangerous point

Despite the appointment of Brigadier General Abdullah bin Hobeish Al-Sayari, Director of Hadramout Valley Security in May last year, and the subsequent noticeable improvement in the security aspect, the first military region represents a dangerous point in the security file, especially in its continuous movements to fuel the conflict with its suspicious movements.  This prompted the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, to issue a decision appointing Amer bin Hatian, the staff of the First Military Region war, instead of Abu Awja, the de facto ruler of the First Military Region.

The change of Abu Awja came in light of popular pressures and continuous demands for the departure of the Brotherhood forces involved in destabilizing security and stability, the return of terrorism, and the growth of smuggling of weapons and drones to the Houthi militia.

Salem Abdel Daem explained to "NewsYemen" that all presidential political interventions aim to reform the military system in Wadi Hadramout and end the Brotherhood's rule in it after years of tampering, robbery, robbery, intimidation, arrest, and suppression of freedoms for politicians and activists hostile to the actions of their rule.  He stressed that the Hadramout Valley is coming to a new birthplace, from which a homeland for the civilization will emerge militarily and in security, and it will enable them to maintain their security on their own without any interference from other hostile forces.

He stressed the need to remove the first military zone and its soldiers from the city of Seiyun and the cities of Wadi Hadhramout to the battle fronts after they settled there and owned real estate and residential buildings and created a market in the sale of homes by doubling their prices to settle in cities instead of fighting the Houthis and expelling them from their provinces.

In the context, the citizen Muhammad Hadi pointed out that the forces of the first military region have become a burden on the citizen in the current period from an economic point of view, pointing out that the levies imposed by the Abu Awja forces on the transport locomotives increase the suffering of the citizens, which reaches every point along the Somme and even  Crossing the desert road in Wadi Hadramout is about two million Yemeni riyals in total, which is reflected on the seller and on the citizen, which proves that the First Military Region and its existing forces are partners in the rise in prices, products, foodstuffs and even medicines.

Breaking the Brotherhood's thorn

On the ground, the recent presidential decisions issued by the President of the Presidency Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, changed the Brotherhood’s rule in the Hadramout Valley and broke their strength by establishing the Nation Shield Forces, which will have the largest share of the Hadhramaut Valley, after recruiting hundreds of Hadhramaut people in camps affiliated with the Arab Coalition.  They are expected to enter Wadi Hadramout in mid-February.

Salem Sbeih believes that trained and qualified Hadrami forces will be able to control security in Wadi Hadramout, as they are well-versed in the terrain of the region and the places of imbalances, in addition to the patriotic tendency to protect their lands and their people and preserve their looted wealth.

Wadi Hadramout is the den in which sleeper cells are holed up, and it is the smooth path that feeds the Houthi group with weapons and marches through which it targets innocent people and public and international interests.  By removing the first military force and replacing the Hadrami elite, it will contribute to cutting the Houthi financing line and establishing security and the pillars of stability inside the Hadhramaut Valley and its regions yearning for peace and security.
