At a time when the terrorist Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, has intensified its propaganda of the lie of increasing production and agricultural sufficiency in its areas of control during the past months, while the reality is quite the opposite, citizens complained that the Houthi militia sold 50 kilos of local wheat at an amount of 22 thousand riyals for citizens, while the price of an imported bag (Australian) for the same weight ranges between 16-18 thousand riyals, in addition to the latter being distinguished by better quality than the local wheat produced by the militia mills.

The Houthi militia planted large agricultural areas in Al-Jawf, which it had looted by force of arms against the citizens, under the pretext of launching strategic plans to reach a stage of self-sufficiency in food grains and crops and to expand agricultural activity in the areas under its control.

However, a source in the Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that agricultural production decreased by 1% in the year 2022, which reveals the falsehood of the militia's lies and its delusional marketing of citizens, under the banner of what is called "agricultural sufficiency."

The information received confirmed the decline in the volume of Yemeni production of food grains during the past years to nearly half, as Yemen's production of various agricultural crops decreased to more than 47%, including grains, most notably wheat, whose local production decreased to more than 57% during the past five years because of the expansion of poverty, the spread of Houthi mines, the group's failed and frustrating policy of economic and agricultural activities, and the exhausting levies.

A recent economic study said that Yemen's wheat production decreased to about 100,000 tons in 2019 from 233,000 tons in 2013, or 57%, due to the decrease in cultivated areas as a result of the repercussions of the war sparked by the Houthi militia.

The study indicated that agriculture in Yemen (the future of food and social security), grain production decreased from 864 thousand tons in 2013 to 457 thousand tons, a decline of 47%.

Specialists attributed the unprecedented decline in agricultural production to the obstacles and difficulties that the Houthi militia put in front of farmers and poor families who depend on agriculture as their source of livelihood, led by the fabricated fuel and diesel crises, and the continuous rise in prices, as the price of a gallon reached 20 liters (13 thousand riyals), i.e. Approximately 24 US dollars at the exchange rate of 544 riyals to one dollar, in addition to the high costs of agricultural seeds and fertilizers, which are escalating at high rates, and the imposition of zakat, taxes, and exorbitant illegal fees.
