Aden, Newsyemen, Muhammad al-Hanashi:

The south bid farewell with deep sadness this week, Major General Salih al-Sayed, Director of Security in Lahj Governorate and the General Staff of the Southern Forces, who died of a heart attack in the capital, Aden.

Al-Sayed appeared as one of the most prominent southern leaders in the war against the Houthi militia during its war on the south in 2015. He was the staff of the "Salman" battalion and was wounded during the liberation battles by a Houthi sniper in the Tawahi area in Aden.

After the liberation of the southern governorates, Lahj governorate was one of the emirates of the terrorist organizations, and the terrorist elements used the capital, Al-Houta, as the center and capital of their alleged state.

Al-Houta witnessed killings, beheadings, amputation of hands, and the spread of al-Qaeda militants in Afghani dress. The city was a ghost town, and all movement in the city stopped at night for fear of extremist elements that carried out bloody acts that reached even the citizens.

The province was in need of a brave leader who would ride his horse and remove the dark darkness that engulfed the province and restore it to the city of life, art and music as it was.

The southern forces had managed to purify the capital, Aden, from the terrorist elements of evil, and are preparing to purify Lahj and then Abyan, with the support and supervision of the United Arab Emirates, which had the greatest role in purging the southern governorates of the Houthi militias and their collaborators in the terrorist groups that appeared later.

Major General Saleh Al-Sayed was appointed for his courage and valor, and for being the son of the province, the commander of the raid squad of the security belt forces in Lahj province, and he fought the fiercest battles with terrorist elements in the governorate.

Al-Sayed, with the support of the coalition aviation represented by the UAE, was able to clear and secure the governorate, and Al-Houta witnessed the return of the local authority to work from the governorate after it was unable to work due to Al-Qaeda's control of its headquarters.

After securing the province of Lahj, Major General Al-Sayyed participated in the battles to purify the province of Abyan and was tasked with raiding its hideouts. He was wounded in one of them, and one of his companions was martyred during the operation.

After receiving treatment for his injury in Aden and securing the southern forces of Abyan governorate, he returned to work in the security belt forces in Lahj governorate, and after he emerged as one of the most important leaders in the governorate, he was appointed at the end of 2016 as director of security in the governorate by a decision of the then Minister of Interior, Major General Hussein Arab.

In recent years, the province of Lahj is considered one of the most stable liberated provinces, after it was the most unstable and murderous. According to statistics in one of the previous years, the number of assassinations in one month reached 128, affecting military, security and political cadres from the province.

With his death, the South lost one of its valiant leaders who wrote their names in golden letters in the most difficult phase their provinces witnessed. However, this country was born of heroes who pledged to the master and his companions to follow their path until they achieved their desire and the desire of their people.
