Houthis push marginalized children into battlefield in al-Hodeida

The Houthi militias targeted inhabitants of shanty towns and members of marginalized groups in al-Hodeida city to recruit children.

A displaced man who had left the city told Newsyemen that the armed militias used pro-Houthis in the city to attract children of the shantytowns so as to dispatch them for the battlefield.

The displaced said the Sheikh Abbas al-Hemyari and other youths, who are part of the pro-Houthi called Fuad Maqbool, mobilized five marginalized children last week and gave them some money, in return of food and Khat, who were sent to unknown destinations for training and joining the fronts.

A number of marginalized and slum-dwellers have been killed in recent weeks after being recruited by Houthi supervisors. Relatives have been accused of neglect and lack of attention after several families lost their families' sponsors
