Sources close to the Houthi militias told Newsyemen that the appointment of Mohammed Ali al-Houthi as a member of the Houthi Political Council came after differences between the Houthis' wings at the movement lasted almost a year after the killing of Saleh al-Sammad in an Arab airstrike in al-Hodeida city.

The sources added that Mahdi al-Mashat and a group of militias' leaders complained about the interfering of Muhammad Ali al-Houthi, the head of the so-called Supreme Revolutionary Committee.

According to the sources, some Houthi leaders support al-Mashat and see that appointment of Mohammed al-Houthi will reduce al-Mashat's powers, while others see al-Houthi's appointment will be the next chairman of the Houthi Political Council as al-Mashat's tenure will be ended in August this year.
