Journalist Syndicate : Houthi militias at top of perpetrators of press in Yemen

A report issued by the Yemeni Journalists  Syndicate revealed that the militias issued a list of the perpetrators of violations of press freedoms during the first half of this year.

The report documented 62 cases of abuse of members of the Fourth Estate over the past six months, ranging from murder, assault, threats, confiscation, torture and attempted murder, as well as block news outlets.

According to the report, the Houthis committed the bulk of the total of these violations, 39 cases by 63% and the rest of the parties were about 15 cases, and 5 cases committed by unknown parties.

The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate has monitored two cases of murder in the last six months that killed journalist Zeyad al-Shara'bi and photographer Ghaleb Balhash, both of whom were killed by the Houthi fire.

The report pointed out that the number of dead media and journalists since 2014, rose to 34 journalists, photographers and media workers.

The Houthi militias have topped the list of violations of press freedoms in Yemen, according to the latest report by the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate, which covers the first half of this year.

Sixteen journalists were reported to have been abducted, including 13 journalists at the Houthi militias' prisons, the majority of whom have been living since 2015 brutal and inhumane abduction conditions, they are also tortured by the Houthi militias.
