A fuel ship from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for power plants arrived in the oil port of Aden in southern Yemen on Sunday.

The ship from the UAE's Fujairah port, with 58,972 metric tons of diesel, was delivered to the power stations in Aden after it was almost stopped due to running out of fuel.

The ship will be unloaded to the tanks of the Aden Refineries Company starting on Sunday.

The UAE fuel grant to the Aden Electricity Corporation comes as an emergency solution after generating stations are about to stop due to running out of fuel and the failure of the legitimate government to fulfill its commitments to electricity in Aden and neighboring governorates.

It is noteworthy that the United Arab Emirates has provided great support to the electricity sector in Aden since the first time of liberation of the city from the Houthi militia in 2015. This support included the provision of generators for power stations Al-Mualla, Khor Maksour and the stadium, in addition to fuel shipments, spare parts and filters, and the payment of the salaries of electricity workers to three  Months, plus the payment of arrears for the power plant leased for two years.

The UAE is currently implementing a 100 MW Aden power plant project at a cost of one million dollars from Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation.
