The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) on Wednesday inaugurated the Al-Ghurairah School in Bab Al-Mandab Directorate after its restoration and rehabilitation as part of the back to school campaign.

The school's principal, Ahmed Goueiri, said the renovation and rehabilitation of the 14-class school with its facilities will enable some 900 students to return to their classrooms and continue their education.

In a statement following the opening of the school and the distribution of the integrated school bag to the students, he added that this generous support is not as strange to the UAE as it is an extension of the tender process initiated by Sheikh Zayed, may God have mercy on him, and will remain engraved in the heart of every Yemeni.

The back-to-school campaign, which was launched in mid-January, includes the opening of 16 schools on the West Coast, which the Emirates Red Crescent Authority has renovated, rehabilitated and provided with educational facilities after the war imposed by the Houthi militia had left them completely out of readiness.

The campaign also includes the distribution of 3000 double seats and an integrated school bag to various schools qualified by the Crescent and the 36 schools distributed along the west coast, from Bab al-Mandab in the province of Taiz to Duraimi in Hodeidah.

It is noteworthy that the UAE, through its humanitarian arm, represented by the Red Crescent Authority, attaches special importance to the education sector as part of its continuous efforts to normalize life and ensure the future of male and female students in the liberated directorates and governorates of Yemen.
