A massive clean-up campaign, supported by the UAE Red Crescent, the humanitarian arm of the United Arab Emirates, began on Sunday in Mocha.

Hazem Shandhour, head of camp relief and municipality at the UAE Red Crescent, said the two-week campaign began today to clear up piles of garbage and debris that had accumulated in Mocha for a long time.

He added that the hygiene campaign, which was distributed in four phases, started its work first in Al-Arouk neighborhood and the general line of the city, and will move to other neighborhoods in the coming days.

He explained that the final phase of the campaign aims to fill ponds and swamps and places where rainwater and floods are collected, to prevent the spread of diseases and epidemics.

Hygiene work is accompanied by an awareness campaign, including Mokha schools, to urge students to observe hygiene as a cultural behavior.ش
