Displaced people in Marib governorate, east of Yemen, have complained of an unprecedented rise in rental prices for residential property in the city

Tenants told Newsyemen that rental rates had risen to 700 per cent, while displaced people said there was a silent war against them, requiring landlords to pay up to seven to 10 months in advance, which in some apartments amounted to more than 1.5 million

Displaced people criticized the legitimate government for not resolving it and returning people to their homes.  "Unleashing merchants and landlords and turning a blind eye to blackmailing them is the state's abandonment of legal and moral responsibility to protect citizens and displaced people," they said
