The Houthi militia issued a decision to prevent the circulation and possession of the new currency in the areas under its control, in a step that promised to declare war on merchants and citizens.
The Houthi militia threatened companies, merchants, and citizens with punitive measures, in case of non-compliance with the decision, and handing over the money they possess in the new edition of the national currency, issued by the Central Bank in Aden.
The Houthis announced the exchange of cash held by citizens only with what they call "the electronic riyal", which is just a Houthi mechanism for stealing people, as Al-Houthi did not provide cash liquidity in the areas of their control.
