The Abyan Local Authority is considering restarting the Shuqra Fish Canning Factory

On Sunday, a meeting of the local authority in the governorate of Abyan, southern Yemen, approved the preparation of an integrated feasibility study for the rehabilitation of the Shuqra fish canning plant.

The meeting, which was held in the city of Zanjubar, the capital of the province, and included Mahdi Al-Hamid, Secretary-General of the Local Council, Abdul-Majeed al-Salahi, Director of Investment, and Muhammad al-Qanabla, Director of the General Fisheries Authority, rehabilitated the Shakra factory for stalled fish canning for many years.

The meeting decided to address all the problems that hinder the investment process in the factory, which was considered an important economic tributary for the governorate of Abyan and Yemen.

The meeting stressed that the factory represents an economic and strategic importance for the people of the coastal city of Shuqra and the Abyan Governorate in general.

The Secretary-General of the Local Council in Abyan stressed on making use of the cadres of Shuqra Fish Canning Factory to reactivate its activity again in line with developments in the sectors.

For his part, Director of the General Authority for Fisheries in Abyan Muhammad, Al-Qanobla, expressed the Authority's readiness to overcome all difficulties to reactivate and revitalize the factory by modern and advanced methods.

The meeting recommended the regularization of the staff who had been referred to early retirement.
