Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that Tehran has lost $ 200 billion because of US sanctions and its inability to enter oil and hard currency revenues over the past two years.

According to the Iranian "ISNA" agency, Rouhani confirmed, in a speech on Tuesday, that this amount includes the proceeds of the sale of oil as well as external credits in the amount of another $ 100 billion.
Rouhani acknowledged the impact of sanctions and the policy of extreme American pressure, commenting: "We are currently facing the worst types of sanctions, and one cannot continue without water and food, no matter how strong."

On Monday, the Iranian president justified his failure to fulfill his electoral promises that he made when the country was at peace, and the country is currently at war, as he put it.

Rouhani stressed, in a speech on Monday, that "those who criticize the government know that our current conditions are not the same 3 years ago, we are in a state of war."

Rouhani, during his recent visit to Tokyo, expressed Tehran's readiness to negotiate with Washington, but he insisted on lifting the sanctions, while Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei still opposed any talks with America.

This threatens the European parties to withdraw from the nuclear agreement in light of Tehran's threats to continue its violations, reduce its obligations and increase uranium enrichment and sensitive activities.

The new European Union Commission President, Ursula von der der Lin, who was appointed less than a month ago, said that saving the Iranian nuclear deal "has become very difficult."

Since the United States withdrew from the agreement unilaterally in early May of last year and reimposed sanctions, the Iranian economy has faced a rapid collapse.

Washington wants to force Iran to negotiate a broader agreement that includes its nuclear activities, a ballistic missile program and an end to its regional interventions.
