Hundreds of protesters performed Friday prayers in the open sit-in square of Al-Ma’afir District, Taiz Governorate, confirming the demands of the popular movement to quickly disclose the results of investigations and those behind the assassination of Brigadier Adnan Muhammad al-Hamadi, the commander of the 35th Armored Brigade.
The worshipers raised slogans calling on the Presidential Committee to expose the political dimensions of the assassination, especially that Brigadier Al-Hammadi was subjected to systematic incitement and intimidation campaigns from the media and channels that track well-known political currents that preceded the assassination.
Mohamed Sharaf Al-Haj, one of the leaders of the sit-in, said, "We continue with the revolutionary act and the mass mobilization required by the official authorities to announce the truth and hold all the parties involved and supportive behind the assassination of the martyr, Brigadier General Adnan Al-Hammadi accountable."
He added, the masses are demanding legitimacy and the House of Representatives to hold accountable those who tamper with security and the repeated attacks on the local authority represented by the governor of the governorate, Nabil Shamsan, and not to drag Taiz and its liberated directorates into absurd conflicts that distort the path of the local and military authority for which they were found.
These claims come days after the governor's office was stormed and forced him to leave the city under the pretext of the wounded, which was preceded by an assassination attempt that killed his personal companion.
