Aden, Newsyemen :

The United Nations has revealed that the death rate of coronavirus in Yemen has risen to 27% of the officially declared cases, considering it a cause for concern, as this rate is more than five times the global average of virus death, which is about 4%.

This was stated by the spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, at his daily press conference via a television station in New York.

Dujarric suggested that behind this rise, the actual infection numbers would be much higher than what was officially announced for the cases, due to the lack of test materials in Yemen.

He explained that the United Nations has received only 14% of what it really needs to face the spread of Corona in Yemen, indicating that the United Nations has requested the provision of $ 385 million to finance support for its operations to combat the spread of Corona in Yemen.

A spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General stated that, as of Monday, the United Nations had received only 55 million dollars, which is 14% of what it actually needs.

It is noteworthy that the total cases of Coronavirus infection recorded in the areas under the control of the legitimate Yemeni government, since last April 10, until Monday evening, amounted to 1619 cases, 447 of them died, while 714 cases recovered, while the Houthi militia - Iran's arm is still in Yemen - conceal the epidemiological situation in its areas of control.
