The United Nations announced that 9 million Yemenis have been affected by the reduction in aid programs due to a lack of funding

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen said, through its Twitter account, that "six years of war, hunger, disease and a worsening economic crisis haunt the country."

The UN office noted that humanitarian funding has reached "its lowest levels in decades."

And on Wednesday, the same office announced the closure of 15 of the 45 major UN humanitarian programs in Yemen, while 30 programs may face the same fate in the coming weeks, unless additional funding is received.

For months, United Nations agencies have been complaining of an acute shortage of funding for the humanitarian response plan in Yemen, and have been calling for donors to intervene urgently to help millions of people.

The United Nations says it has received only $ 1 billion of the 3.2 billion needed to provide aid to Yemen this year, according to the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in the country, Lise Grande.
