Aden, NewsYemen:

Major General Hussein Al-Awadi, the former governor of Al-Jawf, stressed the importance of Egypt intensifying its role in Yemen, similar to its remarkable presence in the Libyan crisis, given considerations of joint national security, as well as its good knowledge of the Yemeni situation, and the fact that Bab al-Mandeb is no less important than the Suez Canal.

Al-Awadi said in an interview with the Egyptian newspaper, Al-Dustour, that the formation of the new Yemeni government represents a valuable opportunity that must be built upon and more concessions must be made between the parties to the legitimate government for a lineup to occur in the face of the Houthis.

Regarding the priority of working before the government, he explained that it is necessary at this time that the government fully exercise its powers and take over all files, including the military and security file, and then pay attention to solving the currency crisis and living matters.

Concerning the UN moves, Al-Awadi said that the initiatives adopted by the UN envoy do not serve peace in Yemen, but rather the Houthi movement, pointing out that any settlement with the Houthis, and the legitimacy of its currently worn out status, serve the Houthis and Iran.
