Aden, NewsYemen:

The US State Department announced that it is seeking to revitalize diplomatic efforts with the United Nations to end the war in Yemen.

The US special envoy to Yemen, Timothy Lenderking, had talked about putting forward a new plan for the Houthi militia for a ceasefire in the country.

Lenderking said that Washington has a coherent ceasefire plan across the country that includes elements that will allow to deal immediately with the harsh humanitarian situation in Yemen, and this plan was presented to the Houthi leadership a few days ago.

He noted that the Saudi leadership provides full support to Washington's efforts to end the conflict.

He stressed that the United States and the United Nations were urging the Houthis to respond to the new plan and were waiting for them to "sign of response" to it, warning that the lack of progress in the ceasefire would push the country into more conflict and turmoil.

In response, the spokesman for the Houthi militia, Muhammad Abd al-Salam, declared that the proposal of the American envoy to Yemen was rejected, considering it a "conspiracy" to put Yemen in a more dangerous stage than it is now.

The Houthi spokesman claimed that the US envoy’s proposal was nothing new and represented the Saudi and international vision for a year.
