Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

Medical sources in the capital, Sanaa, confirmed to "NewsYemen", an increase in cases of Corona virus "Covid-19", during the past three weeks, amid great secrecy on the part of the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen.

Although the militia took some formal measures with the first wave of the epidemic, it recently retreated from the precautionary measures, and continued to impose strict secrecy on its spread, as well as preventing the entry of vaccines for the virus.

An insult to the lives of citizens.

The Houthi militia imposes strict secrecy on the outbreak of the Corona virus, in its areas of control, and surrounds this file with the utmost secrecy as if it were a security file.

The virus re-emerged in many Yemeni regions, where statistics issued by the Ministry of Public Health and Population in the legitimate government indicate the outbreak of a third wave of the epidemic, especially in the governorates that include air and land ports for the return of travelers from outside Yemen.

While the Houthis, through the spokesman for the Ministry of Health in their unrecognized government, Youssef Al-Hadari, rushed to release statements based on myths, illusions and lies by claiming that the rule (no understatement or intimidation) set by the militia leader Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, succeeded in preventing the spread of the virus.  Corona virus in their areas of control.

Medical sources mocked Al-Hadiri's statements, considering what he said was an attempt to sell illusion and throw ashes in the eyes.

The sources told NewsYemen that, during the past three weeks, Sana'a hospitals witnessed a steady rise in the number of Covid-19 infections, noting that many deaths were recorded.

The same sources described the way the Houthi militias dealt with the spread of the Corona epidemic as a deliberate policy that reflects their indifference to the lives of citizens in their areas of influence.

Preventing Virus Vaccines

In Yemen, social media sites were once again full of news of deaths, especially in militia-controlled areas, similar to what happened during the first wave of the virus’s spread in the year 2020.

In addition to secrecy, the Houthi militias practice other measures, which are to prevent the entry of anti-Coronavirus vaccines into their areas of control, based on a religious stance that considers these vaccines as sabotage means used by the enemy against the Yemeni people.

The sources confirm that many medical personnel in the capital, Sanaa, and areas under the control of militias were forced to travel to areas under the control of the legitimate government for the purpose of taking anti-Coronavirus vaccines, after the militias' intransigence and refusal to accept doses of vaccines from some international organizations.

According to medical sources, the repercussions of the Houthis’ prevention of virus vaccines were not limited to the medical staff, who were injured and dozens of them died, but extended to ordinary citizens, especially expatriates in some Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, or those young people wishing to travel to expatriate and who find it difficult to meet the requirements of the precautionary measures imposed by them.  Countries like Saudi Arabia with all expatriates and their workers.

Houthi trade in Corona tests

Sources in the Ministry of Health of the Houthi government revealed that the militia turned the examination of the Corona virus (pcr) into a means of trafficking and material extortion of aid provided by international organizations.

The sources told NewsYemen that the PCR test was available in many private laboratories in the capital, Sanaa, at a cost of 20 thousand riyals, but the Houthis prevented these laboratories from conducting tests.

The Houthis restricted conducting a corona examination to its government blood bank, in exchange for (60,000) riyals for each single examination, noting that the militia tampered with the results of the tests, turning them into a means of extortion and trading, considering this a crime.

Medical sources criticized the position of international organizations concerned with supporting the health sector in the areas under the control of the Houthi militia, and their silence regarding the violations practiced by the latter regarding the spread of the Corona virus and the policy of secrecy and obscurity over this file.
