Aden, NewsYemen:

The General Electricity Corporation in the capital, Aden, announced, on Saturday, that a number of generating stations have gone out of service, due to the lack of fuel.

In a statement, the Corporation appealed to all concerned authorities to expedite the provision of fuel to the power stations, before the stations that are still operating are out of service.

It expressed her regret to the citizens due to the increasing hours of power outages in Aden, pointing out that it was due to the fuel running out.

And last Friday, two officials in the Ministry of Electricity and Energy called on the government of interim President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi to immediately intervene to secure emergency quantities of fuel for power plants in the capital, Aden.

In a joint letter addressed to the head of the steering committee for the fuel grant, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Abdul Hakim Judeh, and the Director of the General Electricity Corporation, Abdul Qader Basala, warned against stopping the generation stations in Aden, with the quantities in the refineries’ tanks approaching to run out.

The message said that the stock of diesel fuel in the tanks of Aden refineries until Thursday is about (7000) tons, and this quantity is sufficient to operate for a maximum period of five days, at a time when a plan was drawn up to reduce and stop fuel exchange for areas that did not commit to depositing in the joint account.

It demanded the Prime Minister to purchase an emergency quantity of diesel to cover the power stations' needs of fuel until the fourth batch arrives, in order to avoid power outages in Aden.

It also called for addressing the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen to set a date for the arrival of the fourth batch of reduced fuel.
