In April of last year, the arrival of the oxygen plant in Mocha was a good start for the health sector in the western coastal regions, in order to fill the shortage of oxygen.

But the weeks following his arrival represented a setback for those hopes, after news came of a dispute between the donor who wants to return him and transfer him to another governorate, as well as a shortage of spare parts and oxygen cylinders.

However, the hardening position of the local authority in Mocha at the time allowed him to stay here, but the plant has not yet been installed and operated because the donor has refused to carry out its tasks, in addition to the fact that it is still missing some parts, in addition to 300 oxygen cylinders, which did not arrive with its components.

Despite the many communications to the donor, it refuses to deliver the rest of the needs, citing the need to return it to Aden.

"Hope it works"

The health sector in the West Coast directorates considers the presence of the factory in Mocha, that it will solve many of its needs of this substance, especially at the height of the spread of the Corona virus, when the oxygen supply was difficult to reach health facilities, and it was non-existent with the increase in demand for it.

The director of the Mocha Health Office, Dr. Samiha Jamil, told NewsYemen that the workers in the isolation center had difficulty providing this substance at the height of the virus outbreak.

She adds, we endure great hardship when bringing oxygen from Aden, and sometimes this is delayed from the emergency obstetric department and the nursery department, which consumes 50 cylinders in two days, and therefore we demand the urgent activation of the oxygen plant.

For his part, the Director of Mocha General Hospital, Dr. Nasr Askar, says that the operations to bring oxygen from Aden represent the greatest difficulty, as the distance and transportation costs make it difficult to obtain oxygen in the health facilities in Mocha.

He expressed his hope to restart the factory to benefit from its services, warning that the high humidity might damage some of its equipment, depriving the directorate of benefiting from it.
