Shabwa, NewsYemen, private:

Spreading fallacy after another, this is how the Brotherhood of Yemen, the Islah Party, was distributing lies everywhere, this week, around Balhaf, to serve their own agenda in Shabwa Governorate, and in an attempt to delude people that operating the facility means prosperity, salaries, strong economy, and development,  But the reality was that the main goal was to acquire gas revenues and expel the Emirati forces operating within the coalition to support legitimacy in the country.

The Balhaf gas facility is located in the Radhum district of Shabwa governorate, and its case was raised by the Yemeni Brotherhood, represented by the local authority there, and the Islah militia tried to provoke the coalition forces, but withdrawal was its last option.

The Emirati forces did not originally stop working in Balhaf, as the Brotherhood’s kitchens promoted, but rather stopped after the Houthis took control of Sanaa and advanced towards the south, in the summer of 2015.

fallacies

And in the context of the Brotherhood’s fallacies about Balhaf, the director of the Information Office in Shabwa said that the workers in the Balhaf facility are from the province, two-thirds, but Shabwani activists launched a campaign against him, denying that claim, which prompted him to retract and apologize for that information, and indicated in his apology publication that  The number is only 40%, but the activists were also not convinced of this, and demanded disclosures, which prompted the director of the office to remain silent.

UAE and terrorism

In parallel, the Brotherhood of Yemen deliberately neglected the role of the UAE forces, and portrayed them as an occupying force, which thwarted al-Qaeda's plan to control the Balhaf facility in the summer of 2017, and deployed the Shabwani Elite Forces to secure Shabwa in the same year, after training and arming them.

Al-Qaeda had intended to control the Balhaf facility, as it had managed to control Shabwa regions and districts, including the Radhum district, in which the facility is located, between the summer of 2015 and 2017, when the Islah military and security force was absent from the governorate, and government officials in Ataq were hosting the leaders of the extremist organization  in their homes and make peace deals.

After the Emirati forces thwarted the al-Qaeda plot, the militants of the organization launched a suicide car bomb attack targeting a military barracks of the Elite Forces in the Radhum district, which led to the death and wounding of a number of soldiers, in the summer of 2017.

 The reality of gas export

For his part, Salem Thabet al-Awlaki, a member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, stressed that exporting gas from Balhaf is a matter related to the government, France’s Total and the rest of the partners who see the situation of gas-producing Marib as complex and that the gas export process faces many security challenges in Marib and Shabwa.

Al-Awlaki pointed out that the Brotherhood, like Al-Houthi and Al-Qaeda, are trying to wrap their agenda with resonant national and religious slogans.

He continued, "They are lying that the coalition is obstructing the export of gas from Balhaf, while they are exporting oil from the Al-Nashima port and they have the Qana port for smuggling and no one has stopped them."

Employees from outside the province

Instead of drawing the director of the media office in Shabwa, the people’s attention and gain their sympathy, by saying that there are thousands of employees from the sons of Shabwa in the Balhaf facility suspended from work, the matter turned into a counter-campaign, as people in the province know that the reality is different, where the employees are mostly from  other provinces.

And the matter is not limited to Balhaf, where the oil companies also have more than 70% employees from outside Shabwa, while the people of the province are rejected, including those in the companies in the Al-Uqla oil area.
