Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

Educational sources in Sanaa said that leaders of the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, complained about the increasing corruption of Houthi leader Hussein Amer, who is director of school book printing and director of the Education Fund, noting that these leaders filed a grievance with the head of the militia-controlled government, Dr.  Abdulaziz bin Habtoor.

The sources added to NewsYemen: The complaint included an indication that they had to submit it to the prime minister after the failure of their previous complaints to the Minister of Education, Yahya al-Houthi, brother of the militia leader, who is related to the director of the school book printing press.

According to the sources, the Minister of Education, Yahya al-Houthi, who is the brother of the militia leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, appointed Hussein Amer, with whom he is related by intermarriage, director of school book presses and director of the Education Fund in the context of corruption operations practiced by militia leaders, especially leaders who have kinship relations with the militia leader, noting that  Amer shares the money he receives from the budgets of book presses, as well as the Education Fund, and the revenues obtained by printing presses, in addition to the amounts of support provided by some international organizations in the field of education and support for textbook printing.

Principals of private schools told NewsYemen that the textbook presses under the control of the militias raised the prices of textbooks for private education to three times their prices last year, and required all private schools to pay the amounts of books in advance, which confirms that the book presses receive hundreds of millions in revenues.  To print private education books.

The complaint filed by the school book printing staff included that its director, Hussein Amer, who is related by marriage to the Minister of Education and brother of militia leader Yahya al-Houthi, expelled a large number of employees without any justification other than asking them to pay their salaries, or pay additional bonuses to them in exchange for increasing their working hours, and his dismissal  He appointed a number of other employees and replaced them with militia affiliated elements without any qualifications and not related to the work of the printing presses, in addition to appointing new managers within the framework of the printing presses and the Education Fund, all of whom belong to the governorate of Saada.

Various state institutions in Sana’a are witnessing continuous Houthi operations, as officials affiliated with the militias are appointed in many institutions even without having any relationship to the work of these institutions, or their specializations, and the only criterion on which the Houthi militias rely in appointments remains the loyalty of the person, and his lineage.  And the area to which he belongs, where brigades are given to the people of Sa’ada governorate and the children of the Hashemite families in it specifically.
