Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

The death sentences carried out by the Houthi militia, the arm of Iran in Yemen, on Saturday morning, against 9 citizens of the Hodeidah governorate, sparked wide and angry reactions.

Lawyers, activists, official bodies, human rights organizations and journalists have expressed their condemnation of the death sentences, considering that Al-Houthi has launched a new phase of executions against civilians.

Lawyer Faisal Al-Majidi told "Newsmen" that it is illogical to talk about the matter from a legal point of view as long as this group has no legitimacy so that we proceed from this aspect, for a simple reason, because discussing them in details is as if you are dealing with an existing authority and therefore you are blaming the rulings from  whether it is invalidated or not.

He added, "But as long as there is importance to the discussion, we will talk about the illegitimacy of this gang usurping institutions, and therefore these (decisions) and not judgments;  Falsehood can be corrected by subsequent measures.

Al-Majidi, in the same context, clarified that these victims were kidnapped and forcibly disappeared, as stated in the reports, and when their families were trying to visit them, they brought them from unknown places,

Noting that there is a minor child who is not more than 17 years old, and Yemeni law mainly gives sentences other than death sentences for the minor;  Meaning, it gives a reduced sentence that may reach 5 years for those accused of the crime of murder, meaning that it has other provisions. As for these, they issued decisions and were then executed according to them.

The other matter, the defense lawyer said that they brought real evidence and evidence, including messages from (telecom companies), confirming that the night of Al-Samad’s killing they were not present in the ocean, but one of them says, I do not know who Saleh Al-Samad is, and he does not know the meaning  The term "coordinates", and evidence was presented that these people did not exist, nor were they primarily politicized, but the court did not consider this evidence.

Therefore, from a legal point of view, he confirmed that the decisions are null and void related to public order, because the defendants' pleas were not even discussed, nor was their evidence included in these unjust decisions.

He made an important point about the so-called President of the Republic, Mahdi Al-Mashat.

This man, according to the lawyer, is not an authority or president recognized locally and internationally, nor elected nor appointed by a legislative authority. How can he sign death sentences that are in Yemeni law and most constitutions and laws?  It may not be carried out except after the signature of the legitimate elected President of the Republic. As for this, he is a usurper of power, and therefore how can he sign the execution of lives as simple as this while he has no authority.

And he concluded, the crime is completely non-existent here, and the discussion about it comes within the framework of metaphor, no more, and what was issued are politicized decisions, not judgments.

On Saturday, Tahrir Square in the capital, Sanaa, witnessed a mass execution of nine citizens, which the Houthi militia says were involved in the killing of Saleh Al-Samad.

What many considered as mere messages of intimidation for anyone who would try to oppose this group, and there are more than 10,000 detainees in the prisons of Iran, some of whom have more than 6 years.
