Security forces and the Brotherhood’s militias launched a campaign of arrests, repression and shooting against demonstrations calling for an end to the collapse of the national currency against the dollar, on Monday morning, in the city of Taiz and the districts south of the governorate.

Local sources told NewsYemen that the security forces, led by the assistant director of security, Nabil Al-Kadhi, backed by the Brotherhood's crowd militia, suppressed peaceful demonstrations, today, Monday, in the city of Taiz and the two districts of Al-Shamayatayn and Al-Ma'afer, south of the governorate.

The Brotherhood's security crackdown resulted in the injury of a number of demonstrators and the arrest of dozens of them in the cities of Taiz, Al-Turbah and Al-Ma'afer district.

Thousands of citizens had taken to peaceful demonstrations denouncing the collapse of the national currency against the dollar, and demanding the dismissal of the governor of Taiz and the prime minister, and they closed many streets, in addition to burning tires in them, and tearing up the pictures of President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

These demonstrations coincided with the implementation of unprecedented civil disobedience by merchants in the cities of Taiz and Al-Turbah. The demonstrators denounced the continued silence of the government and the President of the Republic about the aggravation of the riyal crises, the collapse of the national economy, and the rise in food prices.
