Aden, NewsYemen:

bout 130 fighters, most of them members of the Houthi militia, were killed during the past 48 hours in the fiercest battles in Marib Governorate, northeastern Yemen.

The Associated Press quoted field sources as saying that fierce military confrontations took place on a number of fighting fronts in the Marib governorate, and were more concentrated in the southern fronts in the Harib and Abdiya districts during the past two days, leaving 130 people dead, most of them Houthis.

The Houthis usually attack with large human waves of fighters to put pressure on the front lines of government forces, thus becoming easy targets for the warplanes of the Saudi-led coalition.

Arab coalition fighters launched more than 30 air raids on Houthi fighters in the vicinity of Ma'rib in just one day, in an indication of the intensification of battles.

Since the beginning of this month, the Houthi militia has escalated its military operations in Marib governorate, in addition to opening new fighting fronts in Shabwa and Abyan, coinciding with the UN Special Envoy for Yemen officially assuming his duties.

While the United Nations and the United States of America are pressing to stop the attack on Marib and end the war in Yemen, the Houthis are demanding the reopening of Sanaa airport and the port of Hodeidah without conditions or restrictions before any ceasefire or sitting at the negotiating table.
