Marib, NewsYemen, Private:

Violent battles are taking place between the government forces and the Houthi militia on the southern front of the Marib Governorate (eastern Yemen), amid a large wave of displacement of people from the areas of confrontation.

A military source told NewsYemen that the Houthi militia was able to take control of the "Umm Reesh" camp and the areas of "Naseer", "Hurra" and "Al Najad" west of the Juba district, after it tightened its control over the last strategic site where forces loyal to the Islah party were stationed. Malla'a Harib area.

As the battles intensified, tribal sources warned of the collapse of the al-Juba district front, in light of what they described as "the betrayal of the tribesmen by the government forces controlled by the Islah party."

The sources said that the Houthi militia's control of the "Umm Reesh" and "Naseer" areas enables it to completely bypass the Juba district, which means that the Murad Mountains will automatically fall into the hands of the Houthis.

The sources indicated that the "Umm Reesh" camp fell after the Houthis launched intensive attacks with more than 18 human coordinators, on the Alfa fronts in the Juba and Mala'a districts in the Harib district, south of Ma'rib.

The militia was able to control the camp after a large number of its members were killed, while more than 28 tribesmen fighters were martyred and dozens were wounded.

Over the past days, the Houthi militia has pushed hundreds of fighters in large waves to launch violent and continuous attacks on the positions of the tribesmen.

In addition, another tribal source told NewsYemen that large groups from the Obeida and Al-Juba tribes joined the fight against the Houthi militia in southern Ma'rib.

However, tribal fighters complained of a significant shortage of ammunition, and said that they were fighting with light and medium weapons and lacked heavy weapons in the face of the militia's equipment, in addition to a lack of food.

In addition, tribal sources said that there is grumbling among the local tribal fighters as a result of the attempts of the Islah party leaders to impose loyalist elements to manage the battles against the Houthis, despite these Brotherhood elements’ lack of competence and experience, in addition to their ignorance of the geographical nature, which threatens the fall of all Murad regions in the hands of the Houthi militia.

The sources pointed out that the battles took place along two fronts located on the borders of the Al-Juba district, separated by only six kilometers, but the situation became dangerous after the Houthi field advances south of Marib.

According to the sources, the militia is currently imposing its control on the first front, which was located in the Alfa area on the borders of the Juba district, from the direction of the districts of Rahba, Mahlia, Qaniya and the road linking the governorates of Marib, Al-Bayda, Dhamar and Sana’a, while the second front is currently inside the district of Al-Juba from the south direction and adjacent to the district Harib in Ma'rib and Bayhan in Shabwa.

A stifling siege on slavery

The Houthi militia is imposing a stifling siege on the Abdiya district, south of Marib, amid criticism by tribal and military leaders of the Ministry of Defense and the Islah Party, for not taking any action to end the siege.

NewsYemen sources said that the Houthis are besieging the Abdiya tribes and impeding the people's exit to safe areas.

According to the government's Displaced Persons Unit in Marib, 5,000 families residing in the district, in addition to displaced families, are at great risk with the difficulty of getting aid into the area.

The Houthis are preventing food supplies from reaching the Abdiya district, after they took control of the last port.

Meanwhile, other sources reported that dozens of families in the district were able to flee and flee their homes through a branch outlet that is the only one in the besieged district, and connects it to the neighboring districts of Al-Juba district, which was closed on Monday.

Tribal sources say that the Houthi militia is attacking Al-Abdiya, in which there is a camp belonging to the Shadadi Brigade, from three axes: the first, from the Mahlia side, the second, from the Numan district in Al-Bayda, and the third from the Harib direction in Marib, while preparing to open a new front from the direction of Al-Juba District. After taking control of the "Umm Reich" camp.
