Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

With the passing of the first half of the blessed month of Ramadan, the gas crisis continues in Sanaa and the rest of the areas controlled by the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, despite the entry of two ships carrying imported gas, and Sanaa and the militia-controlled areas obtaining additional quantities of local gas quotas that supply the Yemeni market.  Through Safer Gas Company.

Sources in the gas company controlled and run by the Houthi militias in Sanaa confirmed to NewsYemen that the gas crisis is a fabricated crisis since before Ramadan, and the militias were keen to continue it during the holy month of Ramadan in order to open the way for the prosperity of the black market, which the militias consider its main supplier, taking advantage of the increasing volume  Domestic gas consumption during Ramadan.

The sources said that after the entry of two ships carrying imported gas, there was a proposal from some officials of the gas company under the control of the Houthis that the imported gas be used to meet the increase in gas consumption operations during the month of Ramadan, whether through the increase in gas consumption by citizens or by  Commercial establishments, especially restaurants, buffets, and shops that prepare food during the month of Ramadan.

The sources added that, according to this, the distribution of the quantities of imported gas to the stations for supplying transportation means and gas-powered vehicles was delayed before it was lowered at a high price that amounted to more than 8,300 riyals, and small quantities were allocated to vehicles through the stations, at the rate of one cylinder for each passenger bus for a period of five days, which is  Which led to the continuation of the crisis.

The sources indicated that with the advent of the month of Ramadan, the militias invested the increase in consumption to sell the largest possible amount of imported or local gas through the black market, as they continued to reduce the quantities allocated to transportation on the one hand, or continue to distribute household gas quotas to citizens through the agal with the same  The quantities that were distributing before Ramadan were indifferent to the increase in consumption, leading to the implementation of a slight reduction in the prices of imported gas to keep its price at (7783) riyals, and to start selling it to citizens, but with the same mechanism for local gas, through Aqal Al-Harat.

According to the sources, instead of granting the stations the right to sell imported gas to citizens directly according to personal identities, as happened in Ramadan last year, the Houthi militia leaders this year limited the sale of imported gas to citizens through the 'Aqal Al-Harat, where each sane neighborhood is allocated a certain amount that is not  More than half of the amount allocated to the neighborhood from local gas, according to unfair conditions, where the price of a cylinder for the citizen is increased by (300 riyals) to become the value of the cylinder 8100 riyals on the justification of facing transportation costs, while the allocated quantities are subjected to a monitoring process for the so-called representatives of the gas company, and intelligence representatives  At stations for filling imported gas cylinders for sale to citizens.

The sources pointed out that the representatives of the gas company and intelligence representatives, who are Houthi leaders who are distributed to stations designated for filling commercial gas cylinders for citizens, are practicing corruption by refusing to fill a number of cylinders of each sane hot person with no less than ten cylinders from each Aqal Al-Hara share, which does not exceed  About 100 cylinders, on the pretext that some cylinders are invalid or unsafe, while these cylinders are filled with local domestic gas through the Aqal Al-Harat. themselves.

The sources revealed that these delegates deduct every day a large share of the quotas allocated to citizens from commercial gas. For example, if the share of ten cylinders for each Aqal Al-Harat out of a total of ten Aqal Al-Harat, the total amount of gas that will remain in the stations as a result of not filling those cylinders will reach (100).  ) cylinder, which is what delegates or militia supervisors can sell as a black market to owners of restaurants and buffets, at prices not less than ten thousand riyals per cylinder, i.e. a difference of (2,217) riyals for each cylinder and for an amount of up to (221,700) riyals per hundred cylinders, which is the amount that is divided between  Houthi delegates or supervisors daily.  This is just an example, while the truth is that corruption affects much larger sums of money.

The sources confirmed that the Houthi militia was keen not to increase any quantities allocated to citizens of local gas, so that citizens would be forced to buy imported gas on the one hand and at high prices, or meet their needs from the black market, where the price of a cylinder ranges between (13-15) thousand riyals.  This enables the militias to sell shares of domestic or imported domestic gas through the black market at high prices, thus generating huge sums of money for them.
