Al-Mahra, NewsYemen, private:

Al-Mahra governorate, adjacent to the Sultanate of Oman, is one of the most prominent outlets through which weapons flow to the Houthi group, especially since leaders loyal to the Houthis and the Brotherhood control the governorate and facilitate the weapons smugglers’ routes to the areas under the control of Iran’s arm.

Previous intelligence reports revealed that Al-Mahra has become the first supplier of weapons, drones and even drugs to the Houthi militia across the governorate’s coasts, as well as some of its land ports that link it with the Sultanate of Oman.

Politicians and media professionals called on the Presidency Council to correct the conditions of Al-Mahra Governorate, first of all, to limit the flow of weapons, missiles and drones, and to deal a severe blow to the militias, which consider Al-Mahra the most important lifeline.

The decision to appoint a commander for the Al-Ghaydah axis came last week in response to media campaigns that demanded an end to the imbalances in the governorate.

The Presidential Command Council issued a decision appointing Major General Mohsen Ali Marsa’ as the commander of the Al-Ghaydah axis, a decision that was praised by the people of the governorate and the south, and considered it the beginning of fixing the imbalance in the governorate, which is controlled by civilian figures loyal to Al-Houthi, like Ali Al-Huraizi, the person loyal to Muscat and close to Al-Houthi.

Days after his appointment as commander of the Al-Ghaydah axis, Major General Marsaa confirmed that the forces of the axis will confront the smuggling of weapons and drugs and fight terrorism.

Marsaa said, in a statement published by the official website of the Southern Forces, Shield of the South, that the Axis forces will remain a shield and safety valve for the eastern gate of the homeland in and around Al-Mahra Governorate.

Major General Marsaa stressed that the Al-Ghaydah axis forces will do more and everything in their effort to secure Al-Mahra and its surroundings, and will be alongside the security and local authorities to maintain security and safety.

He pointed out that the coming period will pay attention to rehabilitating the axis's employees and raising their capabilities in the military and knowledge aspects to face what the country is going through and address security risks and challenges such as terrorism, drugs and arms smuggling.
