Ma'rib, NewsYemen, Private:

Mystery still surrounds the assassination crimes that affected military leaders in the government forces, in the city of Marib, during the last period, amid many data indicating the involvement of the Brotherhood’s wing in those assassinations.

The assassination of Al-Ziyadi.. contradictory accounts

On February 28, 2020, the family of Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Ziyadi received an official account from the Ma’rib Governorate authority affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood about his death, in an armed ambush, carried out by the Houthi militia, in Al-Jawf Governorate.  His assassination took place nearly three years after it occurred.

On his Twitter page, the journalist, Hisham Al-Ziyadi, talked about "inaccuracies and fabrication of illogical stories" by military leaders in Marib, about the assassination of his father.

He said that the assassination of Brigadier General Muhammad al-Jaradi, the advisor to the Minister of Defense in Marib in early November of this year, opened their eyes to the truth about what happened to his father, and the rest of the slain army commanders.

And as soon as the family of Brigadier General Al-Ziyadi began investigating the facts and researching how he was assassinated, a new story was just before it, talking about an operation cut by bandits on the desert road in the Naba area located between the city of Al-Hazm and the Al-Labanat camp, and it is a story other than the one that was announced.  Brotherhood authority in Marib and Al-Jawf.

Dramatic scene

The family says in a letter it issued on Friday evening, December 23, that it received "a video clip of Al-Zayadi with his escort from the scene of the accident by a group of those who found the bodies at the time before the Houthis took control of Al-Hazm."

According to the letter addressed to the President of the Presidential Council, Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, and the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Mohsen al-Daari, the video clip shows the body of Brigadier General al-Ziyadi in the driver's seat with a pistol in his hand, while his escort was covered in blood on the ground, and his weapon was next to him.  Kalashnikov type.

These evidences raised the Al-Ziyadi family's doubts about the nature of the incident, along with other evidence, including "that the amount of money allocated to the camp and the weapon were in the car and were not looted, even the car itself remained in its place."

How can a bandit not loot money?” A question prompted the Al-Ziyadi family to doubt the intermittent story.

The message says that the evidence included in the video clip was, "The purpose is to create a representative scene that suggests that an armed clash has taken place."

However, this also raised the family's surprise, and said: "It is strange that there was not a single bullet wound on the car or traces of blood indicating an armed clash."

Demands for investigation are ignored

Al-Ziyadi's family made many demands for an investigation, as it says in the statement, and subsequently receives testimonies that a "committee is working on it." However, the demand for the results of the committee's investigation led the family to the path of neglect, which prompted them to resolve to inform the public about what is going on.

The statement says: "We demanded a lot for the investigation, and they told us that there is a committee working on that, and whenever we ask them for its results or where it reached, we are ignored."  And when we decided to inform the public about what was going on, we received messages from leaders through relatives that we would split ranks and serve the Houthis.

The search for the bodies

After the Houthis took control of the city of Al-Hazm in March of the year 2020, bodies were exchanged between the army and the Houthi militia. The body of Brigadier General Al-Ziyadi and his entourage was excluded from it, for unknown reasons.

After that, the Al-Ziyadi family resorted to paying money to a mediator in exchange for the release of the two bodies, after they stayed for two months in the refrigerator of Al-Hazm City Hospital, according to the statement.

The family of Brigadier General Al-Ziyadi continued its demands for an investigation into his assassination, and extracted an order from the Minister of Defense, at the time, to perform an autopsy. Since then, after “three years, we have not received the results of the investigation or the forensic doctor’s report, and every time we try to communicate with officials, we do not find a response.”  Each blames the other.” The family talks about their troubles in the search and investigation journey about the incident.

The family of Brigadier General Al-Ziyadi concluded its letter to the President of the Presidential Council and the Minister of Defense by requesting that the results of the investigation be handed over to them, as well as the results of the forensic doctor, and the disclosure of the circumstances of the incident and the party behind it.

The family statement indicated that he is considered one of the most important experts in the field of ballistic missile engineering in Yemen, and has devoted his entire life for more than 30 years in this field, serving the country and the military establishment.

A month ago, the Yemenis woke up to a new assassination, this time involving Brigadier General Muhammad al-Jaradi, advisor to the Minister of Defense, along with one of his companions. Its chapters are similar to the assassination of Brigadier General al-Ziyadi, and it was shown as a cutting operation by stealing his car and the items in their possession.
