Aden, NewsYemen:

On Sunday evening, the Omani delegation left Sana'a without clear results of mediation, despite meeting with senior leaders of the Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - including the militia's leader, Abdulmalik al-Houthi.

Political sources said that the Omani mediator conveyed the same incapacitating demands of the Houthis to extend the truce in Yemen, about 3 months after it ended and its renewal faltered.

The conditions include the payment of salaries to government employees, including Houthi militia fighters, from the revenues of the Yemeni government, the opening of Sanaa airport and the ports of Hodeidah without any oversight, and its continuation, whether in the event of a truce or war, which means allowing the flow of weapons and military support to it from Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah.

The sources pointed out that the Houthi demands conveyed by the Omani delegation were considered by the international community as impossible conditions that prevented the extension of the armistice, which ended in early October.

Meanwhile, the official spokesman for the Houthis, Muhammad Abd al-Salam Fleita, said that their militias in the field "imposed new rules of engagement, and the other side must realize the fact that we have entered a new phase."

"Currently we are not facing any commitment regarding the ceasefire, but there are respectable efforts being made by the brothers in Amman, in parallel with discussing ideas to achieve progress," Fleita added, in a statement to the Houthis' Al-Masirah TV.  According to him.

Last week, an Omani delegation arrived in Sanaa to discuss renewing the humanitarian truce that ended two months ago.

This visit is the second for the Omani delegation within five months and the fourth in two years.
