Sana'a, NewsYemen, exclusive:

Obtaining a domestic gas cylinder in Sana'a and the areas controlled by the Houthi militia - Iran's arm in Yemen, has become a difficult and arduous task, but at the same time it has turned into a nightmare and they are bothering citizens in light of the spread of poorly made cylinders that are liable to explode inside homes at any moment.

Many citizens in Sana'a complain about selling damaged gas cylinders, in addition to light gas that has no smell, which has caused many incidents of cylinder explosions inside homes during the last period.

The Houthi militia, which was not satisfied with liquidating Yemenis on the battle fronts or starving them, is now bringing death to the homes of citizens through those unknown cylinders that are not usable, as well as filling them with gas that has no smell.

Deadly bombs in citizens' homes

Import companies deliberately, with the complicity of Houthi, introduced domestic gas cylinders without smell through their outlets or through smuggling and sold them to the population without indifference to the lives of citizens or the disasters that would result from these cylinders.. and despite the presence of 5 million damaged gas cylinders distributed to millions of families waiting for zero hour to turn into deadly bombs  In the coup areas, it kills civilians, especially women and children.

Victims fall in secret as a result of obtaining odorless domestic gas cylinders, which have become an imminent danger lurking in the population, and its victims are increasing.

Sources said that the import of gas cylinders of poor quality continues, in light of the complicity of the Standards and Quality Control Authority in Sana'a, which is under the control of the Houthis, which allows the entry of these cylinders under the directives of the Houthi leaders.

Accidents are frequent and the casualties are on the rise

In the latest incidents of odorless domestic gas cylinders in areas controlled by Iran, a woman, her husband and their infant died of "suffocation" in one of the rooms of their house in the Masik neighborhood of Sana'a due to inhaling the gas that leaked from a domestic gas cylinder without their knowledge.

The cylinder, according to the sources, belonged to a car owned by their father, who works in selling the night, and due to the lack of smell - the two vehicles - they were found dead while they were sleeping.

On January 11, citizens of the "Antoush" house were injured, and three children survived as a result of a gas cylinder explosion due to the leakage of odorless gas in a house consisting of 3 floors, in the city of Hababa in the Thula district of Amran governorate, which caused its complete collapse.

On January 1, four people from one family died, as a result of the explosion of a domestic gas cylinder in the home of a citizen in the Ghalil market in Al-Hawk district, south of Al-Hodeidah, where the housewife died with three of her children.  In addition, the house was completely burned as a result of the explosion caused by an odorless gas leak

A few days earlier, a female doctor and her child died as a result of a domestic gas cylinder explosion in Sana'a, due to a gas leak without smell.

Catastrophic accidents caused by damaged and odorless gas cylinders, which resulted in the death of many people in Sana'a, not to mention the explosions caused by those deadly cylinders that left no victims.

It is estimated that 700 incidents of gas cylinder explosions occur annually in Sana'a and a number of governorates under the control of the putschists, causing the death and injury of at least 900 people.

Houthi disclaimer

In the wake of these incidents, the Houthi militia issued several statements through the gas company in Sana'a, trying to evade its responsibility after pumping large quantities of damaged and odorless gas cylinders to its agents in the residential neighborhoods and black markets of its leaders.

Rather, the matter went beyond the Houthi militia's accusations against the government company Safer in Ma'rib Governorate of causing these accidents, which resulted in hundreds of victims, most of them women and children.

However, an official source in the Safer Company in Marib confirmed to (NewsYemen) that the cause of these increasing accidents and explosions is the commercial gas cylinders that are filled in damaged cylinders and are odorless, which the Houthi militia imports from abroad for Houthi merchants through the port of Hodeidah, to which fuel ships flow and include  Houthi gas ships without obstacles.  According to official government statements.

He explained that the ships loaded with gas imported by Houthi merchants may smell more or less, and sometimes the ships arrive and before they are unloaded from the port, the substance is added according to the commercial deal agreement for the cargo, which includes the percentage of gas and the elements added in it.

Hodeidah port.. a smuggling point

The source did not rule out the entry of large quantities of odorless gas through the port of Hodeidah, especially after excluding engineers and technical specialists in the port with other militia members.  And the fact that Iran's arm has precedents in bringing in quantities of adulterated fuel through companies affiliated with the Houthi leaders, where it is mixed with chemicals and caused car engines to be disabled in Sana'a and the group's control areas during the last period.

The source confirmed that domestic gas does not come out of the Safer company for production and exploration operations in Marib except with the smell - the two compounds - as it is added before loading the gas into the trailers, and it cannot be exported to any place outside the company or any governorate without adding the two compounds.  In the event that this is violated, the company's work will stop, as it is international requirements and standards, and the company has been committed to these standards since its inception.

In late January, the Houthi-run gas company in Sana'a announced that quantities of imported gas would be distributed from the ship "Lady Sarah 4", which arrived at the port of Hodeidah, announcing that the gas would be sold to cars and cylinders filled to citizens, specifying the price of the cylinder at 6,900 Yemeni riyals from the old coin.

And before that, in early December, the company announced that quantities of imported gas would be distributed from the ship "Lady Sarah 3", which arrived at the port of Hodeidah last October, announcing that the gas would be sold to cars and cylinders filled to citizens, specifying the price of the cylinder at 6525 Yemeni riyals of the old currency.  (equivalent to 11.5 USD).
