Private sources in Al-Jawf Governorate revealed that military, civil, and tribal leaders collect hundreds of millions of riyals in levies daily, while continuing their rebellion against the authority of the governor, Major General Hussein Al-Awadi.

The sources said that the total daily amount of levies collected under the name "Al-Jawf customs and improvement fees" in the churches area located on the Al-Jawf-Ma'rib line exceeds 120 million riyals per day.

Noting that this money is collected by military and civilian leaders, headed by the deputy governor, Abdullah Al-Hashidi, who handles its disposal, and it is not supplied to the account of the local authority in the central bank in Marib governorate, which is one of the reasons for its refusal to accept the governor of Al-Awadi.

Last October, the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, issued a decision appointing Al-Awadi as governor of Al-Jawf, which was objected to by the Islah Party (the local arm of the Yemeni Brotherhood) in an official statement, which forced Al-Awadi in late January to take the Al-Wadiah border crossing as a temporary headquarters for the local authority in Al-Jawf.

The Hashadi agent, who was the director of the office of the former Brotherhood governor, Amin al-Akimi, has been occupying for months the temporary building of the local authority in the city of Marib, after he expelled the receiving and handing over committee sent from the Ministry of Local Administration from inside the building.

The sources pointed out that what Al-Hashidi did late last week;  Sponsored by the activity of the Office of Education in Al-Jouf Governorate, in a blatant violation of the position of governor;  And confirming his rebellion against the decision to appoint Al-Awadi as governor of Al-Jawf, which continues with the complicity of the Marib authorities, with the agent continuing to encroach on the tasks and work of government offices in Al-Jawf.

And at the beginning of last February, the Hashedi agent organized an event to publicize a human rights report prepared by the so-called “Committee on Rights and Information in Al-Jawf”, and it was circulated by the official media as well as the media affiliated with the Brotherhood, which angered the Human Rights Office in Al-Jawf Governorate, which considered it “an intrusion and interference in its work.”  By some parties outside the framework of legitimacy and law in the province," according to the director of the office, Abdul Hadi al-Assar.

Al-Assar, in a press statement after the event, confirmed that the Human Rights Office in Al-Jawf Governorate, as an official body and as one of the branches of the Ministry of Human Rights, "is authorized to issue statements, publicize official reports, and adopt issues related to the human rights file in the governorate," stressing his rejection of any "spawning within the offices of the local authority under any name and under  any adjective."
