Report: Half of the Yemenis fleeing to Europe have chosen the Netherlands for asylum

A report published by the Dutch website SchengenVisaInfo indicated that nearly half of the Yemenis who fled to Europe last year chose the Netherlands as their destination and submitted an asylum request there.

The report indicated that the Netherlands recorded an increase in the number of asylum seekers who arrived there from Yemen in the past two years, according to the analysis of the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service.

According to the report, the analysis of the Dutch Department of Immigration and Nationality revealed that the total number of asylum applications submitted for the first time in 2022, seven percent of them were Yemenis.  He pointed out: the same thing that in 2021, the percentage is three percent.

The report of the Dutch website SchengenVisaInfo indicated that the number of Yemenis who chose to flee to Europe began to increase dramatically in the aftermath of the war in the country, taking into account the security situation in Yemen, the majority of asylum seekers from the country have a great chance of obtaining a residence permit.

According to the Netherlands Immigration and Naturalization Service, 93 percent of asylum applications submitted by nationals of Yemen receive a positive decision.  This indicates that the country expects to register more asylum applications this year.

The Department of Immigration's analysis also confirmed that the majority of asylum seekers from Yemen are men.  Noting that most of them are highly educated, which makes it easier for them to find a job and integrate.
