Sana'a, NewsYemen, exclusive:

Contrary to expectations, the Saudi and Omani delegation left Sanaa, on Thursday evening, after 6 days of consultations with the leadership of the Houthi group, without announcing that a final agreement had been reached to extend the UN armistice in Yemen.

A Saudi delegation headed by the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al Jaber, accompanied by a delegation from the Sultanate of Oman, arrived in Sanaa, last Saturday, amid reports and leaks confirming that the visit comes to put the final touches on the armistice extension agreement after a semi-final draft of the agreement was reached during the secret negotiations that took place.  in Muscat during the past months.

The arrival of the Saudi ambassador to Sanaa represented a remarkable event, raising the level of optimism that a broad agreement to extend the armistice would be announced soon with preliminary steps to enter into negotiations for a political settlement to end the war in Yemen, and in light of the recent Saudi-Iranian rapprochement.

However, the course of consultations during the past six days witnessed a sudden media escalation on the part of the Houthi group, through sharp statements by prominent leaders of the group who attacked Saudi Arabia and emphasized their refusal to consider it a mediator but rather a party to the war, and its demand to pay financial compensation to the group.

The Houthi group fabricating this point seemed surprising given the length of the period of secret negotiations between it and Saudi Arabia in Muscat since the truce extension stalled in October of last year, while the Houthi leader Muhammad Al-Bukhaiti revealed in televised statements to him on Wednesday that the visit of the Saudi ambassador to Sanaa was preceded by two visits by a Saudi delegation.  He did not announce them, to discuss the terms of the agreement with the leadership of his group.

In addition, the announced visit of the Saudi ambassador to Sana'a was preceded a week by the arrival of the members of the Presidential Leadership Council to Riyadh and their meeting with the Saudi Minister of Defense to present the draft agreement with the Houthi group.  Amid talk about signing it in Saudi Arabia at the end of the current month of Ramadan between the group and the Presidential Leadership Council, which seems not possible at present in light of the disappointing results of the Sanaa consultations and their ending without an agreement, contrary to what was expected.

The faltering of the Sana'a consultations coincided with the naval parade that Iran and its proxies in the region carried out in Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine and Yemen, on Thursday, under the banner of commemorating "International Quds Day".  In it, she renewed the reminder of the close connection between them, albeit timidly and under the peg of the Palestinian cause.

Commander of the Naval Force of the Revolutionary Guards, Admiral Ali Reza Tangsiri, and in his speech during the naval parade with two warships and military boats off the port of Bandar Abbas, he referred to the similar parade made by the arms of the regime in the Arab countries, and said that they will move on land and sea at any time "if the order is issued by a guardian  The Order of Muslims (Imam Khamenei),” he said.

This was confirmed by the leader of the Houthi group, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, in a speech on this occasion, in which he talked about proceeding with what he called "the path of victory" and said that it was "from what we have experienced in Yemen, Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq, and Iran's strength and honor," he said.

This review was considered by the southern political analyst, Saeed Bakran, as "sending many clear messages, the first of which is the lie of Iran's abandonment of its advanced defensive line in Yemen." Rather, he considered it "a declaration of victory in the battle to create and install Iranian defensive lines in the region, especially the Yemen line, and the readiness to expand the line."

Bakran confirms, in a post on Facebook, that "there is no message of peace and coexistence sent by these naval maneuvers, but rather a message of steadfastness on the same approach and stance, and that the lies of the other parties about Iranian submission and the Iranian abandonment of the advanced defensive lines in the region...is just nonsense," according to him.
