Popular interaction and momentum.. Sports leagues ignite Ramadan nights in Abyan

After about a month of competition, the curtain came down on a large number of Ramadan football tournaments that were organized for the popular teams in Abyan Governorate, in southern Yemen, amidst great momentum and crowd interaction.

The Ramadan football league in Abyan is one of the most important sporting events that are organized during the holy month for popular teams in various regions and villages of the province.

These leagues witness great follow-up by citizens during the month of Ramadan, who are keen to attend their competitions and encourage the teams.  And the stadium of the deceased Haidara Al-Baiti, the dirt stadium in the city of Jaar, is one of the stadiums that witnesses a large public presence to watch the qualifiers of the popular teams in the Ramadan League.

Mustafa Adam, a coach for the popular teams in Jaar, told "NewsYemen": The establishment of the Ramadan league has become an annual habit in which the popular teams are keen to participate in it and compete vigorously to achieve advanced positions, explaining that the month of Ramadan witnesses unprecedented sporting activity compared to the rest of the months.

He added that the major revitalization tournaments among the popular teams start at the stadium of the deceased Haidara Al-Bayti Al-Turabi in Jaar, with the participation of (24) popular teams, as this sport is the most popular and one of the regular phenomena in attendance during Ramadan every year.

Adam, who is also one of the youth organizers of the Ramadan refresher league in Jaar, adds: We started the league at the beginning of Ramadan, and the curtain will be concluded on the 29th of Ramadan.

Saeed Haidara Ali, Secretary General of the Popular Teams Union in the Fort Bin Attia region, told NewsYemen: The oldest popular Ramadan football leagues began in the Fort area, approximately in 1979 AD, with the participation of simple teams (Al-Najm- Al-Kifah- Al-Wahda- Al-Ahly- Al-Nasr).  ) as one of the most important sporting events in Ramadan, adding: After that, the league expanded and included (16) popular teams, (8) from Al-Husn and (8) from the regions of the Abyan Delta, divided into four groups, and two teams qualify from each group, and so on.

 Osama Al-Muqari, Director of the Youth and Sports Office for the popular teams in the Khanfar district, in his interview with "Newsyemen", confirmed that the Ramadan leagues are of great importance as they contribute to the participation of all popular teams in various sports stadiums.  In addition to the participation of the best players arriving from Aden, Lahj, and from the central regions of Abyan, Lauder, Mudia, and others.

He added: Everyone is excited with the advent of Ramadan to attend these football leagues, as you find the stadiums full of fans who are keen to attend to enjoy the match that is held in various stadiums.

Al-Mowqari points out that the sports leagues in Ramadan activate the youth and help them benefit from their time in something useful, thanking all the youth and the organizations that support and organize the Ramadan leagues at the level of Abyan governorate.

With the end of the holy month approaching, many leagues enter their final stages of competition, and the stadiums become crowded with citizens who ignite the enthusiastic atmosphere by encouraging and cheering for the teams whose players seek to win the Ramadan league title for this year.

The various sporting events held in Ramadan are carried out by community, official, youth and personal efforts, and their organizers seek to make them successful on an annual basis in Abyan Governorate.

According to the organizers, football leagues in Ramadan are an investment in youth energies, in addition to discovering talented people and encouraging them in the community.  And to be a tributary of clubs and national teams.  These leagues also refine and develop the performance of young talents who are immersed in the popular teams, which are considered the main factory for skilled athletes who will be grafted onto sports clubs and with whom local, regional and even international sports forums compete.
