An official source in Shabwa province said to Newsyemen that the Ministry of Oil and Minerals completed the study extending oil pipelines from fields of Janna and Al-Aqla oil to al-Alam area in preparation for increasing crude oil exports to 100,000 barrels per a day.

The source said to Newsyemen that the project will be an alternative to the pipelines transferring oil from the field of Jannah to Safer Company which is currently stopped; as a result of the cessation of oil exports from Safer through the port of Ras Essa in al-Hodeida province controlled by the Houthi militias.

The oil production and export has been completely hampered by the Houthis' takeover of Sana'a on 21 September 2014, forcing all foreign oil companies to shut down their operations and leave the country.

The Legitimate government resumed the oil production and export in al-Masela oil fields in Hadramout province in August, 2016, while the exports are still stopped in Safer fields in Marib because the oil pipeline and export port passed areas controlled by the armed militias.
