The Houthi militias destroyed on Friday a mud house in Bustan al-Sultan neighborhood in the old city of Sana'a by bulldozer to construct a Concrete building instead of it, in serious violation of the historic city designated as a World Heritage City by the UNESCO.

A Houthi leader at the Houthi militias brought a bulldozer and demolished the house under the cover and protection of the armed militias with the complicity of the appointed Houthi governor Hammoud Obad, adding that the General Organization for the Preservation of the Historic Cities of Yemen (GOPHCY) did not take a step to stop this crime against Yemen's heritage and its history.

The source appealed to all activists, the media and international organizations to move quickly to uncover these crimes and the Houthi plans to erase Sanaa's historic landmarks before the old Sanaa was removed from the World Heritage List by the UNESCO.

The old Sanaa is one of the most important historical cities in Yemen, dates back to the fifth century BC at least.

The UNESCO added the ancient city of Sana'a and Shebam city to the list of endangered World Heritage sites.

The historic city of Zabid was also included on the World Heritage List at risk in 2000 because of the threats it faces.
