Socialist Party calls for formation of inte'l committee to investigate crimes of enforced disappearance in Taiz

The Yemeni Socialist Party left its silence and called for the formation of an international committee to investigate on enforced disappeared in prisons of the Islah Party's militias in the central city of Taiz.

An official statement issued by the educational sector of the Socialist Party said that enforced disappearances are war crimes constitute crimes which are not time-barred from prosecution, pointing out that "the arrogance of these obscurantist forces made the political forces of Taiz obliged to silence for fear of the same fate."

The Socialist Party condemned the Islah Party in Taiz via turning the city into secret prisons and detention centers outside the law through "chaotic militias and military posts hidden youth and Taiz revolutionaries and prevent them from light and air."

The Socialist Party expressed its concern about the continuation of "controlling security and military forces, despite the lack of its simplest national and humanitarian standards, as it behaves and go along with militias' behaviors, and give kidnappers of youths of the revolution a political and legal cover.

The party is surprised by the "cost-paid silence by the local authority, as well as the political forces against violations of human rights in Taiz amid the continued growth of secret prisons carried out by the Islah Party.

The Socialist Party called on Taiz governor Nabil Shamsan to shoulder his legal, moral and humanitarian responsibility for the urgent release of  Ayoub al-Salehi, his partner Akram Hameed, and all those who were forcibly hidden in secret prisons.
