The National Resistance Forces, the Guards of the Republic, led by Brigadier General Tariq Mohammad Abdullah Saleh, is the first military formation in northern Yemen, which includes fighters from across Yemen's political spectrum.
The Republic brigades were formed by members and officers of the Regular Army, and its Supreme Command assigned the functions of commanding battalions and brigades to veteran officers in the Yemeni military Army.
The National Resistance is subjected to Professional combat military training program by Yemeni military training experts, and the guards of the Republic is the first northern force with a clear and written national combat doctrine.
