French senator Nathalie Goulet said Sunday that Qatar National Bank must be subjected to investigation in the context of issuing banking facilities provided by Qatar to terrorists listed on terrorism lists.

The French senator said in an interview with Sky News Arabia on Sunday that sanctions should be imposed on countries harboring and financing terrorists.

"There is a lot of progress on combating money laundering and terrorist financing," she said. "The international community should impose sanctions on financiers of terrorism by freezing funds and banning people from leaving a particular country."

Last month, the Wall Street Journal published a report on Qatar's financial facilities for terrorists, exploiting gaps in the international sanctions regime.

According to the newspaper, the Qatari Khalifa al-Subaie is one of the terrorists benefiting from those gaps, he received $ 120 thousand dollars in a year, through Qatar National Bank.

He was linked to the mastermind of the Sept. 11th  attacks Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

In another context, Goulet suspended a press conference in the French Senate last Friday to demand the removal of the Application  called "Your Fatwa" as promoting the discourse of hatred and extremism.
