Fishermen in Yakhtil area north of Mocha began work at the Fish Landing Center after completing its rehabilitation that carried out by the UAE Red Crescent Authority.

Fishermen expressed their pleasure at the opening of the center in Yakhtil after 12 years of dreaming to open it.

Rummage sale yards or the Fish Landing Center are centers to sell fish as wholesale for businessmen who come to take a quantity or quantities to sell them in other cities of Yemen.

The UAE Red Crescent Authority has established some 26 Fish Landing centers and continues to support fishermen on the West Coast, either by providing fishing equipment or by building fish landing centers.

The Red Crescent Authority tries to build fish landing centers along the coastline to reduce the losses fishermen suffered in fishing sector after the Houthi militias destroyed their activities on the West Coast.

The Houthi militia destructive approach whether carrying sea-borne booby traps or preventing fishermen from fishing and destroying their boats, have imposed a tragic reality on fishermen and pushed them to the brink of starvation.

UAE efforts, through the UAE Red Crescent Authority, have succeeded in reducing this gap through the gradual return to work in the fish sector field.
