Houthi trial for journalists in Ibb for criticizing militias' corruption

Two journalists are expected to appear before the Public Prosecution  in Ibb province on Saturday to investigate after they uncovered corruption crimes committed by officials in the province under the authority of the Houthi militias.

A rights source said to NewsYemen that two journalists Fuad Ahmed al-Sumaie and Fuad Ahmed al-Mulaiki received notices from the Public Funds Prosecution to appear before the Prosecution on Saturday.

He added that the Prosecution will refer the charges against the two journalists amid press articles on corruption crimes carried out by the Central Organization for Control and Auditing (COCA), the COCA chairman claimed that its targeted his character.

Journalists and human rights activists in Ibb expressed their solidarity with journalists and expressed their surprise at the intervention of public funds in publishing cases, stressing that this action comes in the context of repression of freedom of expression, which has not stopped since the control of the Houthi militias.
