Turkish Statistical Institute: Yemenis are the most foreign investors in real estates in Turkey

Turkey has attracted about $ 4 billion Yemeni funds that left Yemen in the past four and a half years, according to data on the value of the Yemeni investments in Turkey and Yemen's property statistics in many Turkish cities.

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, a number of Yemeni property owners or investors in Turkey have increased significantly over the past four years. Yemen's nationality ranked the tenth among the most foreign nationals who own real estates in Turkey.

According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute,or TÜİK, a number of properties purchased by Yemenis during the past four years about 3,000 houses, including apartments and villas, and distributed real estate purchases for Yemenis in Istanbul and Antalya, Bursa,  and Ankara as well.

A Yemeni resident in Ankara told NewsYemen that Yemenis in Turkey had obtained a real estate in Turkey, most of them belonging to the Islah Party, the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen, after buying houses worth at least $ 100,000 under Turkish law.

He pointed out that among the large number of those in Turkey, belonging to the Islah Party, they were able to obtain Turkish nationality, who exceeded their investments, and purchases of real estate $ 250 thousand, and through their investments granted Turkish nationality.

Turkey represents the main destination for the Islah party members who fled battles against the Houthi militias early in the coup in September 2014.

According to the Turkish Investment Law which grants citizenship to foreign investors including Yemenis, when buying a property worth $ 250,000 or hiring a certain number of Turks, or granted residence in Turkey when buying a property worth $ 100,000.

In a press statement earlier, a  labor and investment official at the Yemeni community in Turkey, Muadh al-Khayat said that a number of Yemeni companies in Turkey reached 313 companies in 2018 compared to 64 companies in 2015.

Yemeni investors in Turkey are active in the field of housing projects, buildings and housing, selling residential apartments, public services, small projects restaurants and cafes, tourism and promotion offices, bringing Yemeni investors from Yemen and other countries to Turkey, import and export companies and marketing Turkish products to Yemen.

Muhammet Barman, the chairman of the Turkish-Yemeni Business Council, predicted that Yemeni investments in buying homes for citizenship and investment in various fields would reach $ 1 billion in 2019.

According to the official data provided by the Turkish Immigration Department for the Yemeni embassy in Ankara, Yemenis in Turkey exceeded 15,000 Yemenis, and are present in several Turkish cities.
