Sanaa, Newsyemen, private:

The Houthi militia closed the OHCHR office in the capital, Sanaa, on Wednesday morning, June 10, 2020.

Newsyemen sources revealed that the Houthi crews stormed the security barriers surrounding the International Organization for Migration and the UNHCR office, and one of the crews closed the gate of the UN envoy's office opposite the UNHCR building.

The sources said that the Houthi militia imposed a security cordon and that they informed the employees to leave the office, and they also requested to inform Abeer al-Khuraisha, the coordinator of the UNHCR's main office in the capital, Sanaa, that the office had been suspended due to an activity by the UNHCR staff that harms the country's national security, citing the militia’s allegations.

The sources revealed that Khuraisha had a phone call with leaders in the Mashat office who referred them to the National Security Agency for the Houthis, who in turn informed her that the action was taken due to the refusal of the UNHCR coordinator in Yemen to cooperate with them and to provide them with copies of the reports of UNHCR staff so that they could address these violations and that they had warned them in October last year, but they did not respond to these warnings.

It dded: They have discovered a suspicious activity by the UNHCR coordinator, and it must be replaced by another coordinator with the ability to cooperate with them.
