Sana'a, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

Today, December 13, 2021, the Houthi militia banned public television screens for the Yemeni public in Sana'a to watch the match of the Yemen junior team, which they will paly this evening against the Saudi team in the final of the West Asian Championship in its eighth edition.

Several local sources in Sanaa, which is under the control of the Iranian arm in Yemen, stated that the leader in the militia, appointed to the position of Minister of Youth and Sports, Muhammad Hussein Al-Muaidi, rejected an offer to a group of small traders and football enthusiasts, who presented a voluntary initiative to suspend television screens for the Yemeni audience on a number of public squares and squares in Sana'a.

Noting that the Houthi leader considered hanging television screens in public squares targeting what they call (the faith identity), and that it cuts off roads, harms pedestrians and disrupts traffic and people's interests, according to his claim.

Activists within the initiative team said in an interview with NewsYemen that the supportive Houthi leader underestimated the importance of football in general, and the importance of the Yemeni junior team reaching the West Asian Cup final, and did not show enthusiasm or response to the size of the event.

The Houthi militia had claimed, earlier, that Al-Moayedi announced his intention to honor the national junior football team, in return for the historic achievement of reaching the final of the West Asian Championship on merit, after its victory over Syria by two goals to one.

Today, Monday, December 13, at Prince Muhammad bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam, the final match of the eighth edition of the West Asian Junior Championships will be held between the Yemeni team and its Saudi counterpart, the host of the tournament.

The Yemeni team qualified for the final match after topping its third group by defeating Jordan with a score of 1/3, and against Bahrain by 5-0, and then beating Syria in the semi-final with a score of 1/2.

While Saudi Arabia qualified after topping the first group by beating Iraq 3-0, then beating Lebanon 1/2, and then the UAE in the semi-finals 3-0.
