Sana'a, NewsYemen, special report:

The Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, is working to impose its project and sectarian ideas on Yemeni society, in its areas of influence, in the north of the country, under several banners, including (faith identity).

This deceptive term was launched by the militia leader, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, and it became an umbrella used by his group, which controls state institutions in Sanaa, to pass the sectarian ideas that it imported from the Iranian regime.

The Houthi leaders deliberately use this term to consolidate their sectarian and racist project and their political theories in governance, the economy, culture, etc., and invest all the capabilities and components of the state in this.

Religious monotheism and racism

The Houthi militia knows very well that the issue of sectarian coexistence between Yemenis, which extends for decades, represents one of the most important challenges that stand in the way of passing its project.  Therefore, it deliberately used the term faith identity as a justification to pass its sectarian monotheism based on embracing and trying to implement a monotheistic doctrine that it considers to be the most correct, in a way that allows it to reject and abolish the rest of the other religious doctrines.

Yemenis follow two sects: Shafi’i and Zaydi, and although the Houthi movement claims to follow the Zaydi sect and has often claimed that this sect has been harassed and violated by the state, even claiming that its rebellion against the state was partly caused by harassment of the Zaydi sect, since its coup  The authority and its control over state institutions showed its true face, dependence, loyalty, and belief in the Twelver Ja’fari school of thought, which Iran and its regime condemn, and even considers it the eternal doctrine of the state, as stipulated in the Iranian constitution in its twelfth article (the official religion of Iran is Islam, and the doctrine is the Twelver Ja’fari school,  This article remains forever immutable.)

The militias' efforts to consolidate their ideology are evident through many aspects, including the amendments they have made to the education curricula.  And its establishment of cultural courses for all state employees on a mandatory basis, which includes the imposition of performing prayers according to this doctrine.  Through the promotion of the concepts of the doctrine related to the aspect of the subject of governance, such as the concepts of divine right, the theory of guardianship, and the subject of subordination to the guardian of the jurist, leading to the application of the Iranian rule model based on the fact that the supreme leader, who is also called the leader of the revolution, is the religious and political reference and the owner of the absolute opinion and the only decision that must be  To be followed and implemented by all state institutions and authorities.  This is the same thing that is implemented in the militia authority, as its leader is considered the reference and the first decision-maker in this authority, and all state institutions must implement his directives and decisions despite not having any official or constitutional status in the power structure.

And from preventing Tarawih prayers in mosques during Ramadan, to preventing insurance after the imam finishes reciting Al-Fatihah, and preventing joining in prayer for those who attend the Houthi cultural courses, especially for those who belong to the Shafi’i school of thought, leading to passing many of the rulings included in their Jaafari Twelver school of thought in private fields.  Judgments and judiciary and adding them to the amendments and changes they make to laws pertaining to state authorities, particularly in the field of judicial authority.

Imposing the ISIS ideology

On the other hand, Al-Houthi and those in power in the areas under his control turned claims of faith identity into a justification for practicing the methods of extremist ISIS ideology that the militias believe in, produce and implement against society through their policies that confiscate all freedoms and rights of people, starting with the process of preventing mixing at the level of educational institutions.  and work institutions.  Through the imposition of conditions and controls for women’s clothing, even young men, and the prosecution of violators, and the prevention of any festive appearances in schools, universities, and educational institutes, except in accordance with the conditions set by the militias.  In order to harness all the possibilities, capabilities, and institutions of the state to promote its sectarian, racist, and political ideas through mandatory courses for employees, and weekly programs that require every employee to attend to hear lectures by the militia leader every Wednesday, and ending with the practice of preventing any manifestations of people of other sects and beliefs.

In addition to issuing fatwas prohibiting the militias, the militias carried out campaigns of arrests of workers in the fields of art, music and drama under flimsy pretexts and justifications, including that they violate the religious identity as they claim, not to mention that they closed cafes and cafes that were an outlet and meeting places for people.

Among the policies of ISIS ideology implemented by the Houthi militias using the term faith identity, areas under their control are witnessing systematic media campaigns and policies against local and foreign civil organizations and their workers, especially women.  And the issuance of fatwas prohibiting and criminalizing many activities and events related to awareness and education in several fields, ending with everything related to democracy, elections, freedom of opinion and expression in any form and through any means, especially social media, as a kind of soft war and cultural invasion that must be confronted and repelled with what  it Call a faith identity.

The abolition of national identity and the replacement of political pluralism

In another aspect, which is no less dangerous, the Houthi militia is now using the term faith identity and its claims about it to consolidate a cultural, intellectual and political approach that contradicts and differs from the Yemeni national identity based on linking to Yemen's history and civilization, and belonging to Arab nationalism.  And interdependence with humanity in the whole world, which is summed up in the last paragraph of the national anthem of the Republic of Yemen:

I lived my faith and love as a nation

And my march above my path is Arabia

And the pulse of my heart will remain a Yemeni

There are many manifestations of the Houthi militia seeking to replace what it calls the faith identity as an alternative to the Yemeni national identity and Arab national affiliation through its complete subordination to the Iranian regime and the implementation of all its directions and anti-Arab agenda, and its targeting of Arab national security, whether by targeting Arab brothers in Saudi Arabia and the UAE or through its implementation of Iran's threats in  The territorial waters in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait are against Arab interests, and then openly declaring that they follow the so-called axis of resistance led by Iran and its regime.

In addition, the political system in Yemen is based on political pluralism, the democratic approach, and the right of people to form parties and engage in political activities in all its forms.  However, the Houthi militia seeks to replace this system with a political system based on claims of faith identity that cancels any intellectual or political pluralism or the existence of political parties and fuses them within the framework of absolute subordination to this alleged identity, which means commitment to trends, ideas, culture, principles and concepts that are included in what is called identity.  The belief that makes the militia leader the holder of the divine right to power based on his alleged dynastic affiliation.

It can be said that the allegations of faith identity spoken by the Houthi militia are nothing but a means to pass its racist and sectarian project and its political ideology affiliated with Iran, and what this embodies in the implementation of its agenda and goals in Yemen within a project that targets the entire Arab national security.
